GPS TECHNOLOGIES, INC. ANNOUNCES THE AWARD OF A $59,000,000 CONTRACT WITH THE U.S. NAVY

 NEW YORK, June 18 /PRNewswire/ -- GPS Technologies, Inc., (GPS), a subsidiary of National Patent Development Corporation (AMEX: NPD) ("NPD") announces the award of a five-year, $59,000,000 contract to provide engineering and technical services to the Naval Sea Systems Command in support of U.S. Navy nuclear submarine programs. Services provided under the contract will include support for the SSN and SSBN Submarine Engineered Operating Cycle Program, the Fleet Modernization Program, and the Life Cycle Maintenance and Modernization Program.
 GPS, headquartered in Columbia, Md., is a leading supplier of engineering, training and technical services to commercial industries, electric utilities and the U.S. Government. GPS has approximately 1,000 employees and annual revenue in excess of $75,000,000.
 The project will be managed out of GPS' Crystal City (Arlington, Va.) office and will have support activities located in Manassas and Norfolk, Va.; Charleston, S.C.; Groton, Conn.; San Diego; and several other locations near client facilities. David L.
