About the Virtual Institute:

Bioinformatics education and training programs are crucial to the development of a cutting-edge life sciences work force. The Virtual Institute Summer Session program assembles top educators from a cross-section of prominent academic and research institutions to deliver intensive courses in the leading life sciences tools and techniques. The program's Short Courses and Workshops educate scientists in advanced life sciences research tools and help participants form personal and professional networks in the life sciences industry. Directed by Aydin Tozeren, Ph.D, Distinguished Professor of Biomedical Engineering Biomedical engineering

An interdisciplinary field in which the principles, laws, and techniques of engineering, physics, chemistry, and other physical sciences are applied to facilitate progress in medicine, biology, and other life sciences.
at Drexel University and co-Director of the Greater Philadelphia Bioinformatics Alliance, the Virtual Institute Summer Session is supported by an NSF NSF - National Science Foundation  Partnership for Innovation grant, an NIH "Not invented here." See digispeak.

NIH - The United States National Institutes of Health.
Roadmap grant, and a Workforce Leadership grant from the Department of Community and Economic Development of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
