GOP lawmakers offer immigration compromise bill.In an attempt to unify Republicans in Congress over the contentious issue of immigration reform Immigration reform is the common term used in political discussions regarding changes to immigration policy. The House and Senate each have passed immigration reform bills earlier this year, but Congress is at an impasse over the issue, The plan would start with a border security strategy similar to what the House passed in December and require the more than 11 million illegal immigrants to "self-deport."
