," by Neil Connolly (DK Publishing; $35). Connolly, who now owns Doc's Restaurant in Orlando, Fla., was Rose Kennedy's private chef for a dozen years in the '80s and '90s. In this colorfully photographed volume, Connolly, who was born and raised in Boston, shares more than 125 favorite recipes steeped in the family's history. He also spices up the book, which includes family snapshots, with anecdotes and memorable stories.

Besides family dinners, Connolly was in charge of cooking for special occasions, brunches, wedding receptions, celebrity and fundraising dinners, catered boat lunches and clambakes on the beach. Recipes range from appetizers and soups to main courses, salads, sides and desserts. BISCOTTI-STYLE ICE CREAM SANDWICHES:

Just in time for warm-weather indulging, Renton, Wash.-based Cold Standard has introduced Blisscotti, a new innovation in the frozen ice cream sandwich category. A variety of ice-cream flavors is sandwiched between two thin slices of crisp almond biscotti Biscotti (plural of Italian biscotto, roughly meaning "twice baked") are crisp Italian cookies often containing nuts or flavored with anise. Traditionally, biscotti are made by baking cookie dough in two long slabs, cutting these into slices, and reheating them to dry  that have been dipped in either milk or dark (65 percent cacao cacao (kəkä`ō, –kā`–), tropical tree (Theobroma cacao) of the family Sterculiaceae (sterculia family), native to South America, where it was first domesticated and was highly prized by the Aztecs. ) European chocolate. Select from Vanilla Bean & Milk Chocolate, Coffee & Milk Chocolate, Raspberry & Dark Chocolate or Chocolate & Dark Chocolate flavors. Tasters sampled the last three flavors and thought they were delicious, although some found them a tad difficult to eat. (For easiest eating, make sure they are not frozen solid.)
