TRIPLE SCOOP ICE CREAM MACHINE

Nestle Ice Cream invites kids, ages 6-12, to try out for a chance to ``Be a Flavorologist'' for a day. Kids need to simply submit an idea for the world's coolest frozen pop (including a clever name, an interesting shape and a unique flavor description) and a flavor resume explaining why they are qualified for the position. Ten winners will be selected (based on creativity, originality, enthusiam and appeal) for an all-expense paid trip (with up to three family members) to the Nestle Ice Cream factory in Bakersfield in October to try their hands (and taste buds) at being a flavorologist for a day. TOMATO FESTIVAL

Reserve the date and make a trip to Santa Rosa for some delicious eating. The Kendall-Jackson Winery hosts the 10th annual Heirloom Tomato Festival, Sept. 9, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wine Center, 5007 Fulton Road, Santa Rosa. Attendees will have a chance to sample 175 heirloom tomatoes along with items from more than 60 food purveyors and Bay Area chefs and restaurateurs. The event also includes entertainment, an art festival, a chef's challenge and wine sampling. Proceeds will benefit the School Garden Network. Tickets are $60 each (none available at the door). Good Seasons has introduced a line of six premium bottled salad dressings. Among the flavors are Italian Vinaigrette With Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Red Raspberry Vinaigrette with Poppyseed, Sun Dried Tomato Vinaigrette With Roasted Red Pepper, Asian Sesame With Ginger, Classic Balsamic Vinaigrette With Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Creamy Caesar With Aged Parmesan. Each 2-tablespoon serving ranges from 60 to 110 calories and from 4.5 to 9 grams total fat.
