GOOD TASTES.NEW KETTLE CHIPS BAKED CHIPS DEBUT Kettle Bakes Potato Chips recently debuted in a trio of flavors - Aged White Cheddar, Hickory Hickory, city, United States Hickory, city (1990 pop. 28,301), Burke and Catawba counties, W N.C., at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mts.; inc. 1870. They're packaged in 4-ounce bags that contain 480 calories (for each flavor), with 12 grams of fat in the lightly salted and barbecue flavors and 14 grams in the Cheddar flavor (per bag, which is four servings), as opposed to 640 calories and 40 grams of fat in the same amount of regular fried potato chips. Our tasters gave them a thumbs-up, favoring the barbecue flavor by a wide margin. Some thought the white Cheddar had a fake, slightly chalky taste. The lightly salted ones were passable pass·a·ble adj. 1. That can be passed, traversed, or crossed; navigable: a passable road. 2. Acceptable for general circulation: passable currency. 3. but didn't have as much flavor. Those trying to reduce fat might be happy to have this option (with 65 percent less fat than regular chips). Granted they are not the same as regular Kettle Chips, but if you're cutting fat and need a chip fix, try them. The suggested retail price is about $3 per bag. Tasters liked various flavors (with the exception of the Creamy Caesar), but the winner in our informal sampling was the Buffalo Bleu Cheese by a wide margin. As a peanut butter cup fan, I was skeptical of the caramel addition to the peanut butter and chocolate, but once I tasted the candy I was amazed a·maze v. a·mazed, a·maz·ing, a·maz·es v.tr. 1.
