In the front of the book, Peters shares information on how to start a cake, cake bases, cake architecture, fillings and icings, and more. She also includes recipes for Coco-Loco Cake, Carrot Cake Carrot cake is a sweet spice cake with grated carrot mixed into the batter. The carrot softens in the cooking process, and the cake usually has a soft, dense texture. The carrots themselves enhance the flavour, texture and appearance of the cake. , Meringue Buttercream, Chocolate Truffle truffle (trŭf`əl) [Fr.], subterranean edible fungus that forms a mutually beneficial (symbiotic) relationship with the roots of certain trees and plants. JANE SEYMOUR'S DESIGNS ON HEALTH: To coincide with American Heart Month - and raise awareness of heart disease - in February, the California Pistachio pistachio (pĭstăsh`ēō, pĭstä`shēō), tree or shrub (of the genus Pistacia) of the family Anacardiaceae (sumac family). The species that yields the pistachio nut of commerce is P.  Commission has teamed up with actress and artist Jane Seymour to create four different heart-inspired designs in a set of 12 limited-edition note cards.

PIE CONTEST: Crisco invites home bakers to team up with their favorite children ages 8 to 13 - sons, daughters, grandchildren, nieces or nephews - and enter their best original dessert pie recipe in the second Crisco All-American Pie Recipe Contest. Each adult-child team (they must be related) can enter one of five categories - apple, fruit/berry, sweet potato/pumpkin, chocolate or citrus.
