GOOD TASTES.

COOKBOOK: If you're still interested in cutting carbs - and even if you're not, ``Low Carb 1-2-3,'' by Rozanne Gold with Helen Kimmel, M.S., R.D. (Rodale; $16.95) is worth perusing. The queen of three-ingredient recipes (there are eight cookbooks in her ``1-2-3'' series), Gold simplifies home cooking with a few high-quality ingredients without sacrificing taste.

Among the dishes in the new cookbook are Avocado and Crab Martini, Glazed Walnuts, Broccoli Soup With Basil Butter, Prosciutto-Wrapped Halibut halibut: see flatfish.
halibut

, Tournedos au Poivre With Balsamic balsamic (bäl·sämˑ·ik),

Syrup and Frozen Hot Chocolate. Many sound terrific - like winners - just like many of the recipes in her other volumes (which are such a breeze to cook from with excellent results).

The book can be used by anyone who just wants to eat sensibly, even if not counting carbs, notes Gold.
