RICE AND EASY: If you're aiming to eat more whole grains, here's an easy way to get some in your diet. Uncle Ben's
This article is not to be confused with Benjamin Parker, or Uncle Ben.

Uncle Ben’s is a brand name for parboiled (“converted”) rice and related food products. Owned by Mars, Inc. in the U.S.
has expanded its Whole Grain Brown Ready Rice (from Whole Grain Brown Rice and Chicken Whole Grain Brown Rice flavors), adding three new flavors New Flavors - An object-oriented Lisp from Symbolics, the successor to Flavors, it led to CLOS.

Ready Whole Grain Medley, Brown & Wild Ready Whole Grain Medley and Vegetable Harvest Ready Whole Grain Medley. We love the concept -- and especially when you're in a hurry. You simply press on the sealed packet with your fingers to disperse any lumps, then microwave for 90 seconds. Each packet makes 2 servings -- and it goes with so many other foods -- chicken, tuna, beef, etc. You can even make a rice salad out of the mixture by adding a little oil and vinegar, Dijon mustard, cut-up meat or poultry -- or lots of fresh veggies Veggies of Nottingham, also known as Veggies Catering Campaign, is a campaigning group based in Nottingham, England, promoting ethicalbum alternatives to mainstream fast food. .

Our favorite by a wide margin was the Santa Fe, which had terrific flavor. Suggested retail is $2.69 per packet.

Uncle Ben's has also reformulated their boxes of Long Grain and Wild Rice products to include whole grains and each box (Original, Fast Cook, Roasted Garlic & Olive Oil olive oil, pale yellow to greenish oil obtained from the pulp of olives by separating the liquids from solids. Olive oil was used in the ancient world for lighting, in the preparation of food, and as an anointing oil for both ritual and cosmetic purposes. , and Vegetable Pilaf) retails for $2.19. We favor the Original and Fast Cook and disliked the Roasted Garlic & Oil with its intense, overpowering flavor.

ICE CREAM MADNESS: Americans enjoy their candy bars. According to a recent survey, 41 percent of Americans eat at least one candy bar a month, and 39 percent eat one candy bar a week. In addition, 47 percent of Americans agree chocolate is the ultimate candy bar ingredient, followed by peanut butter with 21 percent.

To tie in with the candy bar consumption craze, Baskin-Robbins has teamed with Hershey's and is offering nine Candy Bar Madness items through May 28. Among them are ice cream (Heath Bar Crunch is a new flavor), shakes, sundaes and ice cream cakes made with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Heath Bar Crunch, Hershey's Kissables or Kisses. They sound tempting -- and oh-so-fattening and rich. To indulge, head to your nearest Baskin-Robbins store. Information: www.baskinrobbins.com.
