CONTEST ALERT: The search is on for great-tasting, easy, original beef recipes. If you enter the National Beef Cook-Off, celebrating its 25th anniversary, you could walk away with the $50,000 grand prize. Recipes must fall into one of four categories - one-dish meals, grilled beef, handheld kid pleasers, and quick and easy beef. Twenty national finalists will be selected to compete in Fort Worth, Texas Fort Worth is the fifth-largest city in the state of Texas, 18th-largest city in the United States[1], and voted one of "America’s Most Livable Communities. , on Sept. 27 for more than $100,000 in prize money. DINING OUT

After cutting their teeth in some of the top kitchens in Los Angeles, chefs Anne Conness (Alex, Saddle Peak Lodge, Campanile, Water Grill) and Natasha MacAller (Campanile, Union) have joined forces and opened EM (pronounced ``em'') in the former Atlantic restaurant on Beverly Boulevard.
