PIZZERIA MOZZA OPENS: The long-awaited Pizzeria Mozza, a casual Italian dining spot, opened last week off Melrose. The brainchild of La Brea Bakery guru Nancy Silverton of Los Angeles and Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich of Food Network and New York restaurant fame, the establishment features pizzas, paninis, antipasti Antipasti can refer to:
  • in Italian cuisine, a starter course similar to Hors d'œuvre (italian plural of antipasto)
  • a British band named Anti-Pasti
, salads, desserts and more. Open noon to midnight daily, the restaurant is located at 641 N. Highland Ave. (at Melrose Avenue); (323) 297-0101; www.mozza-la.com. Already, the restaurant is booked solid for the next couple of weeks (at least when we called the day after it opened), but we were told you're welcome to walk in -- and see if you can secure a spot at the bar.
