COOKBOOK: For those still following a low-carb regime, ``The Low-Carb Barbecue Book,'' by Dana Carpender (Fair Winds Press; $17.95), offers 200 recipes to make your grill and picnic table sizzle. Barbecue sauce recipes have been reconfigured to contain half the carbs of traditional ones, and you'll find some sugarless rubs and mops (made with Splenda) included, with names such as Memphis Mop, Kansas City Barbecue Sauce, Polynesian Sauce, Five Spice Beef Rub and Cajun Rub.

Carpender also repeats her no-sugar ketchup recipe again (it appeared in her first two cookbooks), an essential in many sauce recipes. Loads of grilled meat, fish and poultry recipe ideas are included along with salads, slaw slaw

DINING OUT

The sign says ``finally open,'' and some nine months after it announced it would make its debut, the opening of the second location of the Beverly Hills Il Tramezzino has actually occurred in Studio City.

Dubbed an Italian cafe, Il Tramezzino is really a salad, sandwich and pasta place with a few tables inside and quite a few more on a shaded outside patio.

It actually opens for breakfast at 7 a.m. (to 11 a.m.) and serves toasted Italian baguettes ($3.25), croissants stuffed with ham, egg, cheese, Nutella and fruit ($3.25 to $4.95) and oatmeal or granola ($3.25).

A variety of salads (15 of them) range from a house green ($5.25) or Caesar ($6.95) to different chopped styles ($8.95) and a caprese with grilled eggplant ($9.95).

Almost all sandwiches ($8.95 each) are Italian in style, utilizing grilled rolls, and are stuffed with a main ingredient like prosciutto pro·sciut·to
