GOOD TASTES.

NEW: C&W Frozen Foods, based in San Bruno San Bruno (săn br`nō), city (1990 pop. 38,961), San Mateo co., W Calif., a suburb on San Francisco Bay; inc. 1914. There is light manufacturing and petroleum refining. , Calif., recently introduced four premium frozen vegetable side dishes to their line of more than 60 frozen vegetable and fruit products. Packaged in plastic bags ranging in size from 18 to 20 ounces, the new sides include Almond Beans, Creamed Broccoli, Creamed Spinach and Salsa Corn (with black beans, tomatoes and peppers).

They're easy to transfer to a glass dish and cook in the microwave in 6 to 8 minutes or you can prepare them stove-top in a saucepan. Tasters gave them all a thumbs up, but the favorites were the green beans green beans

and creamed spinach, which had good flavor and were nicely seasoned. The corn we cooked in the microwave seemed a tad watery as directions specify adding 1/2 cup (we'd use less next time) - it also could have used a little spicing up (like ground cumin cumin or cummin (both: kŭm`ĭn), low annual herb (Cuminum cyminum) of the family Umbelliferae (parsley family), long cultivated in the Old World for the aromatic seedlike fruits.  or a little hot sauce).

We tried both the creamed broccoli and creamed spinach with a little shredded Cheddar cheese stirred in and on top - and they were delicious.

Besides using the sides ``as is,'' you can turn them into other dishes. For instance, use the Salsa Corn in a burrito stuffed with rice, chicken and cheese. The green beans can be used in stir-fry dishes and more. Or try the creamed ones topped with leftover turkey and a little shredded cheese.

Each bag, with a suggested retail price of $3.99, realistically makes three to four servings. Nutritional information provided based on 4.5 to 5 servings per bag ranges from 80 to 120 calories. Look for sides in the freezer sections of supermarkets.
