On March 28, a delegation of 10 students from Darien High School and two teachers traveled to Shanghai, China, as part of the Darien-China Exchange Program. They included John "Jake" McCauley, who is a 15-year-old sophomore. He is the son of Andrea (Seymour) and Jack McCauley. Andrea lived in South Lancaster until she married.

On Sunday, May 4, Clinton High School students, Tiffany Sontag, grade 11, and Maddy Vacha, grade 10, represented their gymnastics club, Clinton Turners, at the USA Gymnastics Region VI Level 8 Championship held at the University of Rhode Island History

To earn a competition spot at the regionals, both gymnasts needed to first qualify at a USA sanctioned sectional meet with an all-around score of 32.5 or better from floor, beam, uneven bars and vault. They both easily qualified at the USA Gymnastics States Competition held at Cape Cod on April 12.

 States meet, both gymnast received trophies for their all-around event scores, with Vacha earning a ninth All-Around Trophy and Sontag taking home an 11th place All-Around Trophy. Their scores placed them in the top 25, securing them each an invitation to don the leotard and warm-up suit representing the state at the Region VI Level 8 Championship. Sontag and Vacha are the first gymnast on the girls team at Clinton Turners to quality for and attend a regional meet. Sontag received a fifth place medal on floor and Vacha received a fifth place medal on uneven bars. Fred and Aubrey Sontag coach the girls.
