GOOD BASKETBALL PLAYERS COME IN 3S IN TOURNAMENT.

Get ready for some serious 3-on-3 basketball.

The 10th annual Hoop-It-Up tournament comes to Cal State Northridge on Saturday and Sunday. More than 2,500 players of all ages and abilities, along with 12,000 spectators, are expected.

Proceeds benefit local high schools and colleges. Spectator admission is free both days, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday.

``When Hoop-It-Up began in Dallas as a charity fund-raiser 10 years ago, everyone thought it would be a great one-time event,'' Hoop-It-Up vice-president Jeff Busch said. ``Ten years, 1.1 million players and more than four million charity dollars later, we're in 75 cities worldwide.''

``The event has grown steadily,'' said local organizer Chuck Price. ``We're expecting a real good turnout and some very good players this weekend.''

Side activities at Cal State Northridge will include dunk contests on regulation baskets and also on 9- and 8-foot rims. There will also be 1-on-1 and 3-point contests.
