Byline: Daily News

VALENCIA - An autopsy on a woman who died after riding the Goliath roller coaster at Magic Mountain showed bleeding around the brain stem brain stem, lower part of the brain, adjoining and structurally continuous with the spinal cord. The 28-year-old Fontana woman was identified as Pearl Santos.

Santos was found slumped over in her seat Saturday morning after the three-minute ride on Goliath - a 255-foot-high coaster that sends riders plummeting at speeds reaching 85 mph.

The Los Angeles County Coroner's office said the aneurysm aneurysm (ăn`yrĭzəm), localized dilatation of a blood vessel, particularly an artery, or the heart.  might have been a pre-existing condition before the woman got on the roller coaster.

Officials said tests for drugs would also be conducted, with the results expected in six to eight weeks.

``Because of her age, we'll do a toxicology test as well, just to make sure drugs weren't a factor,'' said Lt. Fred Corral corral

Los Angeles County paramedics treated the woman for what appeared to be a heart attack before Santos was rushed to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

``The investigation indicates that the female boarded the Goliath ride in good health,'' said sheriff's Deputy Richard Westin. ``The investigation also revealed that there was no malfunction with the ride itself.''

A Magic Mountain spokeswoman said that park officials would examine the coroner's report before commenting on it.
