The public can compete between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. June 23-June 27 in the Honda dealership at 455 Auto Vista Drive. The best players daily will advance to the June 28 finals, where the $1 million grand prize awaits anyone who makes a hole in one, said center spokeswoman Ingrid Chapman.

``There is literally a golf green built a few days ago in the middle of the dirt field at the Palmdale auto center mall. For six days, people are going to be whacking balls, trying to get a hole in one,'' Chapman said. ``There are going to be 10 winners every day - the ones who come closest - and they'll win some pretty big prizes. On June 28, the best from each day will be invited back and they will have a shot at the million bucks.''

The entry fee will start at $1 a ball. Golfers can get six balls for $5, 15 for $10, 30 for $20 and 30 for $50.

All proceeds will go to the local child abuse center.

In addition, the center will be hosting its second annual Lancaster JetHawks The Lancaster JetHawks are a minor league baseball team in Lancaster, California, USA. LANCASTER - Antelope Valley College's Job Placement Center offers job-search assistance to students.

One recent computer science graduate credits the center for helping him land a full-time position with Boeing.

``They help you find the job openings, create a resume, then they send it from the school,'' said Michael Onstad. ``Employers see that, and I think it helps to have that kind of recognition behind you.''

Interested in computers since age 11, Onstad held tutoring jobs in college, then got an Internet Internet
