GOLDEN LEAGUE SHINED OVER HOLIDAYS.

Byline: Chris Cocoles Daily News Staff Writer

The Golden League had a happy holiday season.

Area boys' basketball teams fared well in the slew of December tournaments, although Littlerock was the lone school to capture a championship with a victory over Highland in the finals of the Bulldogs' invitational.

But there were other strong showings as well. Quartz Hill went 4-1 against stiff competition to claim third place at the Valencia Winter Slam.

Lancaster, which had its roster gutted when three potential starters transferred, is off to a slow start but did reach the finals of the Apple Valley tournament. And Palmdale finished second at the REB Invitational in Edmonton, Alberta.

Littlerock: The Lobos' most recent game, a 53-46 win at Rosamond last Tuesday Last Tuesday is a Christian melodic punk rock band hailing from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They played their final show on March 10th, 2007. Last Tuesday was formed in 1999 in Harrisburg, P.A. , showed they could be the Golden League favorite, though Quartz Hill has already staked its claim with an impressive nonleague run.

It wasn't that the 12-2 Lobos were anything spectacular in beating the Roadrunners. But the adjustments coach Ben Dale made can't be ignored.

Rosamond's huge front line dominated early as the High Desert League school took an 11-0 lead. But when Littlerock went into a zone defense it created scoring opportunities in transition. The Roadrunners committed 21 turnovers, and the Lobos outscored Rosamond 53-35 the rest of the way.

Paraclete: Paraclete's 76-72 win over L.A. Baptist at the Knights' tournament last week may be a sign of good times to come for the Spirits.

By defeating a future Alpha League opponent, Paraclete's brutal nonleague schedule could have the Spirits prepared to compete with league favorite Marshall.

Paraclete's 4-10 record is deceiving. Coach Andy Gavel's team played a daunting daunt
