GOBOOK MAX RECEIVES CERTIFICATION FOR HAZARDOUS ENVIRONMENTS.Itronix Corporation's GoBook MAX rugged notebook computer has been certified by CSA International, a global provider of independent product testing, for safe use in hazardous materials environments. The GoBook MAX is certified under "Intrinsically Safe and Non-Incendive Systems" for hazardous locations (Class 1, Division 2, Group D), which means it can be operated in environments that may include flammable gases or volatile liquids ranging from acetone and ammonia to cyclopropane and benzene. "The GoBook MAX is the only rugged notebook computer in its class to be independently certified under 'Intrinsically Safe and Non-Incendive Systems' standards," said Jeff Gibbons, Itronix vice president of marketing. "This certification demonstrates our commitment to meeting our customers' needs for beyond mil-spec rugged computers that can withstand the punishing demands that agencies within the DOD, aerospace flightline and emergency work environments dish out. The CSA certification assures our customers that the GoBook MAX meets the highest independent standards for safe computing in hazardous environments." The GoBook MAX already exceeds demanding Department of Defense military specifications for safety and durability and, according to Conrad Blickenstorfer of Pen Computing magazine, it is a "no-compromise, no holds barred tool for the toughest of jobs. ... [It] really doesn't have a direct competitor in its size class." Its ultra-rugged features include a totally sealed die-cast magnesium case, a 20GB shock-mounted hard drive and a 700 MHz Pentium III processor, making the GoBook MAX the lightest and fastest ultra-rugged notebook PC in the world. GoBook MAX's certified rating means it can be used in a variety of hazardous situations, including aerospace flightlines, where combustible fuels are a concern, in oil and gas exploration, and under emergency conditions or military situations. According to Donald Ponikvar, of The Defense Group, Inc., an Alexandria, VA based provider of "first response" software for public safety organizations and the military, "The GoBook MAX allows specialized personnel to work more safely and productively in the demanding conditions they encounter." DGI has provided consulting services that assisted FEMA and the New York City Office of Emergency Management at the World Trade Center site immediately following the September 11 attacks. "When military and civilian personnel are on the ground they need a computer that won't compromise their safety and will keep working," he said. "This is the only computer we know of that's certified as safe for hazardous materials teams and bomb squads. It's the only one that allows you to go into a hostile environment and not have to leave it behind. The GoBook MAX is a critical piece of the solution to gear up and plan for anti-terrorist activities." The GoBook MAX exceeds military drop tests, and can be operated at extreme temperature ranges from -22 - 140 F. It has exclusive user-upgradeable CRMA (Common Radio Module Architecture) wireless technology, a standard ColorVue touchscreen for enhanced outdoor viewing.
