Highlights for 1999 include:

Traffic

- ABC.com experienced 83% growth from October to November 1999, according to Media Metrix, an independent Internet measurement service.

- Over the course of the past six months, ABC.com has grown 106% and traffic to the site has more than doubled over the past 12 months (Nov. 98-Nov. 99).

- ABC.com's reach on the Internet now exceeds CBS's by 85%.

Milestones:

- ABC.com introduced a new generation of online entertainment on Nov. 17, with "The Drew Carey Show" Web-cast. 650,000 live streams of a synchronous primetime television-Internet Web-cast are accessed in a half-hour, smashing industry records for streaming video A one-way video transmission over a data network. It is widely used on the Web as well as company networks to play video clips and video broadcasts. Computers in home networks stream video to digital media hubs connected to a home theater.  events.

- Capitalizing on the success of ABC-TV's "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", ABC.com garnered more than six million players for its online version of the game, with more than 500,000 reaching the "Millionaire" winner's page

- ABC.com introduced e-commerce onto the site by launching an online store in November 1999 featuring merchandise from ABC's most popular programming including ABC Daytime ABC Daytime (ABCD) is a programming block on the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). The Disney-ABC Television Group named Brian Frons the president of the newly created Daytime, Disney-ABC Television Group in May 2006. , the hugely successful "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire", and primetime specials. Visitors also can purchase show branded merchandise, as well as CD's, books and videos related to their favorite ABC shows and specials.

- ABC.com conducted three successful integrated merchandise initiatives with ABC Daytime. Most recently, ABC Daytime fans were able to order on ABC.com the official "All My Children" Crystal Ball Keepsake. This summer, ABC.com and ABC Daytime teamed up to sell the official 1999 Nurse's Ball T-shirt, as seen within programming on "General Hospital" and "Port Charles For the fictional city, see .
Port Charles is a soap opera which aired on ABC from July 11, 1997 to October 3, 2003. It was a spin-off of the popular soap opera General Hospital

 that were featured on "The View". TV viewers were directed by the shows co-hosts to the ABC.com store as a destination on which to purchase the items being featured within the programming.

- Oscar.com, which was produced by ABC Internet Group in partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, experienced record traffic during Oscar weekend (Sat., March 20 - Mon., March 22). More than one-and-a-half million users came to the site during the weekend, generating 12 million impressions. Oscar.com also produced and featured "And the Envelope, Please...," the first TV--synchronized Web event meant to be experienced while watching the Oscar telecast.

- ABC.com launched a special section completely devoted to Wasteland that contained exclusive streaming video of extended storylines and original interactive features. The Wasteland area included video "pre-quels" on certain storylines and characters and featured weekly exclusive scenes that were only available on ABC.com. Also, users had access to the personal Web site of one of the main characters in the show that consisted of first-hand observations about her friends.

- ABC.com set a site record for live chats as users pose 45,000 questions to Erik von Detten, star of ABC-TV's Odd Man Out, as he chatted with fans live on ABC.com on Friday, September 24, at 10:00 p.m. ET and 1:00 a.m. ET.
