GO TO THE DOGS TOPP DOGG HAS IT ALL FOR THE WEINER CONNOISSEUR.

Byline: Larry Lipson Restaurant Critic

THE DOG WORLD is expanding.

Following a recent announcement that The Stand in Encino will be opening in new locations soon, I decided to check out another entry into the local frankfurter scene, Top Dogg Derrick Wade (born February 17, 1979 in Missouri) better known by his stage name Top Dogg is an American rapper. Raised in Compton, California, Top Dogg was signed to Suge Knight's Death Row Records.  in Woodland Hills.

Top Dogg, which took over the former N.Y. Scoop site, retains the ice cream parlor Ice cream parlors are places that sell ice cream and frozen yogurt to consumers. Ice cream is normally sold in two varieties in these stores: soft-serve ice cream (normally with just chocolate, vanilla, and "twist", a mix of the two), and hard-packed, which has an assortment of  outlet, but has switched from Manhattan-style ice cream to Oregon's Cascade Glacier. For those who believe a hot dog isn't complete without a milk shake milk shake

And Top Dogg's 25 hot dog variations This is a listing of regional variations on the hot dog. Different areas of the world have local variations on the type of meat used, condiments and means of preparation: United States

represent numerous regions of this country and Mexico and come forth griddled, steamed, fried, char-broiled and grilled.

You can also sample them fat or thin, Polish-style, bratwurst, regular-type or all-beef.

One comes wrapped. One is made with turkey meat. And there's a meatless veggie version.

The hot dogs are priced from $1.75 to $5. For $1.75, the three-way choice consists of a cornmeal-dipped beef frankfurter, deep fried and mustard-brushed; a New York New York, state, United States

City-style steamer with either relish and mustard or an onion sauce; and a veggie dog with onions, relish and mustard or the same onion sauce.

I liked the New York steamer, but paid $3 for it Coney-style with chili, onions and sauerkraut.

But if you're in a sauerkraut mood, probably the Milwaukee-type beer-soaked bratwurst ($4.60) option would be more satisfying.

For Polish sausage lovers, Top Dogg offers two choices at $4.20 each, almost the same, one called the Woodland Hills Firehouse Polish with onions, mustard and bright green relish, the other named the Maxwell Street Polish A Maxwell Street Polish consists of a grilled all-beef Polish sausage topped with grilled onions and mustard on a bun. The sandwich was first created by Jimmy Stefanovic, a Macedonian immigrant, who took over his aunt and uncle's hot-dog stand (now Jim's Original) in Chicago's  with peppers added.

After trying these and a few others, I found myself going more for the oddball, spicier dogs rather than being a purist pur·ist

I didn't mind the mainstream bacon-chili-cheese rendition ($3.60) with tomatoes, onions and relish, but really preferred a more complex, south-of-the-border one called El Beicon ($5) that had the same bacon, chili and cheese, but was wrapped in a tortilla and stuffed with refried beans re·fried beans

And another done Buffalo-style ($3) with spicy buffalo wing sauce and blue cheese dressing Noun 1. blue cheese dressing - vinaigrette containing crumbled Roquefort or blue cheese

The Cincinnati dog ($3) with Cincinnati-style chili, cheese and mustard caused a bit of a yawn. I'll spend the extra 20 cents any day for the tastier Michigan White Hot ($3.20), called that because of its white meat appearance, also served with Cincinnati chili Cincinnati chili (or "Cincinnati-style chili") is a regional style of chili characteristically served over spaghetti or as a coney sauce. While served in many regular restaurants, it is most often associated with several fast-food chains in the Cincinnati area, including Skyline  on it plus onions.

And for those who like a burger with, or instead of, a hot dog, the Top Dogg kitchen cooks up an above-average, double-patty, 1/3-pound hamburger ($2.65 to $3.50) and makes a single-patty version for as low as $1.50.

But there's no question about it. Hot dogs, not burgers, are the stars here. And Top Dogg's weiners possess good snap, seem fresh and are neatly put together, not delivered sloppy.

And yes, another plus, they'll toast your bun on request.

What more can you ask?
