SIMI VALLEY Simi Valley (sē`mē, sĭm`ē), city (1990 pop. 100,217), Ventura co., SW Calif. in an oil, fruit, and farm region; laid out 1887, inc. 1969.  - New cars will be rolling into the parking lot of Simi Valley City Hall this month as part of a campaign to urge residents to shop locally and support the city's dealerships while giving back to local charities.

The tent sale begins Oct. 15, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays. The sale will include play areas for children.

Councilman Steve Sojka said the deal with the auto dealers is another way of promoting the ``Shop Simi Valley First'' campaign, which urges residents to buy local and keep sales-tax revenue in city coffers.
