Daring Dick is a new version of the Dick Whittington Not to be confused with Sweet Dick Whittington. Dick Whittington (also Dick Wittington) is a character in a British pantomime, very loosely based on Richard Whittington, who was probably born in Gloucestershire but whose family came from Kinver in Staffordshire, story and offers rodent villains led by Queen Rat. The Christmas show at the Priory Theatre in Kenilworth centres around a plot by Queen Rat to take the English crown and director Anita Dalton has set the action in medieval Britain. Mark Jefferies, from the Priory, says: "This is a family panto panto Noun pl -tos Brit informal short for pantomime (sense 1) Noun 1. panto - an abbreviation of pantomime which has lots of laughs, rats and cats, underwater boats and promises to be very entertaining for everyone." The show is written by Anthony James and features music by Kate Brookes, Dan Hewitt and Tim Spencer. Daring Dick runs until January 3. Tickets from 01926 863 334.
