MURDER, deceit and betrayal top the bill in Warwickshire next week.

Loft director Wendy Anderson, says: "When I sat down to read the play I was apprehensive because I thought it was going to be another static courtroom drama, but only a few pages in I was totally engrossed and finally astounded at how good it was. It has a great period feel, vibrant characters, cleverly observed dialogue and a totally credible story with an unexpected denouement de·noue·ment also dé·noue·ment

Matt Cox plays the prime suspect on trial for the murder of a wealthy middle-aged spinster. His fate depends on the testimony of his German wife - the witness for the prosecution.

Dawn Morris plays the wife and Peter Bagley is the defence barrister Sir Wilfred Robarts QC.

The cast also includes John Fenner, Anne-Marie Greene, Vicky Whitehill, Ron Austin, Gareth Shapland and Michael Hammond.

Witness for the Prosecution opens on Wednesday and runs until January 22. Box office 01926 426341.
