MOBY unveils Hotel, his fifth studio album, on Monday, and it maintains his progress from studio geek to fully-fledged rock star. For the first time there are no vocal samples - he does the singing on 10 of the 14 tracks, there are two duets with Laura Dawn plus two instrumentals - and, with the exception of Scott Frassetto's drumming contribution, he plays all the instruments. He also handled production, engineering and mixing and, presumably, provided the tea and biscuits...

Why Hotel? Because he's fascinated by them. "The most intimate human things happen in hotels," he explains, "yet they feel so anonymous. Every 24 hours the hotel is just wiped clean.

"That might sound odd, but I think that is somehow analogous to the human condition."

QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE release new single Little Sister on Monday, previewing their Lullabies to Paralyze album that follows on March 21.

BECK is back in business on Monday with E-Pro, a new single with a stonking guitar riff and a video crammed with state-of-the-art computer game graphics. It's the first taste of Guero, his first album since 2002's Sea Change, which follows seven days on.

GWEN STEFANI, fresh from her Jean Harlow cameo in Martin Scorcese's The Aviator, releases new single Rich Girl on Monday. The second track taken from her What You Waiting For album, it features guest spots from Dr Dre and Eve.

THE much-touted Rilo Kiley release new single Portions For Foxes on Monday. Written by vocalist Jenny Lewis and guitarist Blake Sennett, it's taken from their More Adventurous album.
