YOUNG musicians are using jazz as another ingredient to spice up contemporary dance music.

Big band jazz reinvented is what is on offer from the Matthew Herbert Big Band and Bugge Wesseltoft.

Dance music pioneer Matthew Herbert, aka Dr Rockit, Wishmountain and Radio Boy, is joining forces with Norwegian pianist Bugge (pronounced, I am glad to say, Boogie) Wesseltoft.

The band has already chalked up some notable achievements, with sell- out concerts at London's Festival Hall and appearances at the Hollywood Bowl and the Montreux Jazz Festival The Montreux Jazz Festival is the best-known music festival in Switzerland. The Matthew Herbert Big Band recently made a CD at the Abbey Road studios where the jazz credentials of the music were enhanced by the presence of Dave O'Higgins and Dave Green.
