GO: ANGEL FACE; Classical girl band to appear at eisteddfod.

Byline: By DAVID POWELL

THE four girls who make up All Angels can't wait to reach this year's Llangollen International

Musical Eisteddfod. At their July show they will sing pieces which cross over from classical to pop - such as Sinead O'Connor's Nothing Compares To You and Sancte Deus.

The four members of this award-winning all-girl band, who've gone from being unknowns to pin-ups in the rarefied air of the classics, are Charlotte Ritchie, Melanie Nakhla, Laura Wright, and Daisy Chute.

Bubbly Laura, 17, says: "We're incredibly excited about coming to Llangollen. We feel honoured to be part of it."

She says the girls aren't sure yet what else they will be performing but adds: "It will be a mixture of classical and contemporary music."

She was speaking at the International Eisteddfod's launch in Cardiff on Monday shortly before All Angels were due to performThe Sound of Silence and Pie Jesu in a one-off concert.

Since the singers' manager Steve Abbott brought the girls together from all over the country, they have already made two albums: All Angels and the newly-released Paradise.

The first albumwas the UK's fastest selling debut for a classical act and won them a platinum disc. Not only that, they made a cameo appearance in TV's Emmerdale last year.

So who are they? Well, Daisy, 18, from Scotland began her performing career aged nine as Young Cosette in the touring production of Les Miserables. Later she made an album of jazz standards and presented Newsround before joining All Angels.

Melanie, 19, went to Shrewsbury Junior High School, and is now in her last year of sixth formcollege. She began singing at a young age and is learning to fly light aircraft.

As for Charlotte, 18, from Clapham, London, she joined the National Youth Music Theatre aged 11 and appeared as an extra in Harry Potter: The Goblet of Fire.

And finally, Laura, 17, who studies at FramlinghamCollege, Suffolk, won BBC Radio 2 Young Chorister of the Year in 2005. She also holds the rank of Lance Corporal in the Combined Cadets Corp.
