Gary Kusumi has been tapped to be chairman of the board of directors for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is a U.S. non-profit organization funded by auto insurers. It works to reduce the number of motor vehicle crashes, and the rate of injuries and amount of property damage in the crashes that still occur. Based in Arlington, Va., IIHS is a nonprofit research and communications organization funded by U.S. automotive insurers. The organization's mission is to prevent motor vehicle crashes on the nation's highways and reduce the injuries and property loss in the crashes that do occur. IIHS conducts crash testing at its state-of-the art facility in Ruckersville, Va., and releases those results with safety ratings by vehicle make and model. During his tenure as board chair, Mr. Kusumi will be working to further IIHS research on safer vehicles, driver behavior and roadway design.
