GM WORLDWIDE PURCHASING GROUP ANNOUNCES PERSONNEL CHANGES

 WARREN, Mich., July 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten appointments for the General Motors (NYSE: GM) Worldwide Purchasing Group were announced today by G. Richard Wagoner Jr., GM executive vice president of Worldwide Purchasing and chief financial officer.
 -- Ronald B. Knox, 47, is named director of Materials Management for GM do Brasil. Knox was previously executive director, Worldwide Purchasing Supplier Development and Supplier Quality Assurance. He succeeds Volker J. Barth, who recently joined the Worldwide Purchasing Group at GM's North American Operations (NAO) headquarters in Warren as executive director, Metallic.
 -- Ray C. Campbell, 51, is named executive director, Quality and Supplier Development, Worldwide Purchasing Group. Campbell will retain responsibility for strategic insourcing, an activity which he has directed since February 1993, in addition to assuming his new position which includes supplier development, supplier quality assurance, and minority supplier development.
 -- David F. Brown, 42, is named director, Supplier Development, Worldwide Purchasing Group. This appointment will provide increasing focus on PICOS and the quality, service, price improvement process with GM suppliers. Brown was previously manager, Supplier Development and Quality for the Automotive Components Group Worldwide in Pontiac, Mich.
 -- Bo Andersson, 37, is appointed executive director of Electrical/Electronic Parts for the Worldwide Purchasing Group, based at NAO headquarters. He formerly was vice president of Purchasing at SAAB-Automotive AB.
 -- John F. Gildea, 48, is named vice president of Purchasing at SAAB-Automotive AB. Gildea had been purchasing executive for Vauxhall Motors Ltd., with responsibilities for Vauxhall and the coordination of purchasing for Group Lotus PLC and IBC.
 -- Thomas P. Fabus, 47, is appointed purchasing executive for Vauxhall Motor, Ltd., with responsibilities for Vauxhall and the coordination of purchasing for Group Lotus PLC and IBC. Fabus was previously director of Purchasing for Lansing Automotive Division in Lansing, Mich.
 -- Kathleen H. Klement, 47, becomes director of Purchasing for Lansing Automotive Division. Klement was previously director of Business Development, Worldwide Purchasing Group, Car Platforms, based at NAO headquarters.
 -- Barbara L. Whittaker, 42, formerly platform manager - Material for the Midsize Car Division, succeeds Klement and is named director Business Development, Worldwide Purchasing Group, Car Platforms, based at NAO headquarters.
 -- Mark W. Kenczyk, 38, previously director of Systems, Worldwide Purchasing Group, is named to the newly established position of director of International Business Development at Isuzu Motors in Tokyo, Japan.
 -- Duane A. Bolinger, 39, previously manager, Machinery and Equipment/Indirect Purchasing, Automotive Components Group Worldwide in Pontiac, becomes director of Systems, Worldwide Purchasing Group.
 Wagoner said the appointments reflect GM's "commitment to leverage the talents and expertise of our purchasing professionals from around the world to bring the best in quality, service, and price to our customers."
 Knox' appointment was effective July 1 and the others are effective Aug. 1.
