GM TRAVEL SERVICES

DETROIT, May 26 /PRNewswire/ -- The more than six million Americans who currently have a GM MasterCard in their wallets can earn 10 percent on leisure and business travel through a new program, GM Travel Services. The program is being managed by Minneapolis-based Carlson Travel Group, Inc., one of the world's largest travel service providers via a special hotline, 1-800-846-6000.
The GM Card was introduced in September 1992 and became the fastest growing credit card in history, obtaining one million accounts in less than one month. To date, nearly 25,000 GM Card holders have used their GM Card earnings toward the purchase or lease of a new GM car or truck.
As with other GM Card purchases, GM Card holders who book travel plans through GM Travel Services accrue five percent of the transaction in their earnings account toward the purchase or lease of a new GM car or truck. Card holders earn double the earnings to 10 percent toward their rebate accounts when they book travel from more than 30 preferred travel suppliers, such as Continental and Northwest airlines, Princess, Carnival and Royal Caribbean cruise lines, and Club Med, among dozens of other value-oriented travel companies.
In addition to major preferred suppliers Continental and Northwest airlines, consumers can earn 10 percent on any purchases from GM Card Partners Mobil Oil Co., Marriott Hotels, Resorts and Suites, Courtyard by Marriott, Fairfield Inns, MCI and Avis Car Rental. This means any spending with these partners using the GM Card means 10 percent of the purchase total is automatically credited to a GM Card holder's earnings account. Partner spending is above and beyond the $500 per year/$3,500 limit on the classic GM Card, and $1,000 per year/$7,000 ceiling on the GM Gold Card.
"The GM Travel Services program offers tangible value in several ways," said Ronald N. Zebeck, GM's managing director of credit card operations. "Not only do we offer excellent value-oriented travel packages, we also offer GM Card holders the opportunity to earn even more in their earnings accounts toward the purchase or lease of a new car or truck. For example, a person who books a $1,200 Princess Cruise using the GM Card will receive $120 in their GM Card earnings account. That's a powerful incentive."
He also pointed out that GM Travel Services can be used to meet all travel needs, including air travel, cruises, hotel accommodations and automobile rental at no additional cost to GM Card holders.
Zebeck said GM Travel Services will guarantee the lowest published air fare, at the time of booking. If a person finds a lower fare at the time of booking, GM Travel Services will refund the difference, he added.
