GM TO REDEEM DEBENTURES

 NEW YORK, May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- General Motors Corporation (NYSE: GM) said today that it will exercise its option to redeem on June 30, 1993, all of its outstanding 8-5/8 percent Debentures due to mature April 1, 2005. The Debentures will be redeemed at 102.28 percent of their principal amount plus accrued interest.
 The Debentures were sold in April 1975 in the principal amount of $300 million, which has been reduced to approximately $79 million by a repurchase program and sinking fund payments.
 The Debentures may be presented and surrendered for payment at the Morgan Guaranty Trust Company of New York, Corporate Trust Operations Department, Tellers and Mail Unit, 55 Exchange Place, Basement A, New York, New York 10260-0023. Interest on the Notes will cease to accrue on and after June 30, 1993.
