 GM DESIGN STAFF APPOINTMENTS
 WARREN, Mich., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Executive appointments on the


General Motors Design Staff have been announced by Wayne K. Cherry, vice president, and Jerry P. Palmer, executive director of design.
 The following positions are effective immediately:
 -- Leonard M. Casillo, formerly executive designer for Oldsmobile and Buick, is appointed executive designer for Buick and Cadillac.
 -- John R. Schinella, formerly executive designer for Cadillac and Saturn, is appointed executive designer for Chevrolet and Geo.
 -- William D. Scott, formerly chief designer of the Pontiac Interior Studio, is appointed executive designer for Oldsmobile.
 The following positions are effective Jan. 1, 1993:
 -- Terry R. Henline, formerly director of the Design Staff's Advanced Concepts Center in Newbury Park, Calif., is appointed executive designer for Pontiac and GM of Canada.
 -- Thomas V. Peters, formerly chief designer of the Advanced No. 4 Studio, is appointed director of the Advanced Concepts Center in Newbury Park, Calif.
 These designers, along with George Angersbach, staff executive, interiors; Donald J. Schwarz, executive designer, Truck and Bus Design and the Industrial Design Department; John A. Shettler, chief designer of the Color and Material Concepts Studio; and Wayne R. Vieira, chief designer for Saturn, will report to Palmer.
 "Jerry and I are excited and privileged to lead GM's exceptional design team at this critical time in history," said Cherry. "Along with Brooks Stover, our executive director of engineering and design services, we plan to build on the technical and creative strengths of our people and to work more closely with the platforms and marketing divisions to enhance the value of our products for GM's customers."
 Replacements for Scott and Peters will be named at a later date.

 Biographical Information
 Leonard M. Casillo, 53, has been with GM's Design Staff since 1960 when he began working as a college student-in-training. He has held assignments as a designer and assistant chief designer in several studios including, Buick, Oldsmobile, Cadillac and Chevrolet. In 1983 he was appointed assistant executive designer for Buick, Oldsmobile and Cadillac design, and was promoted to executive designer in 1986. Casillo received a bachelor's degree in industrial design from the University of Bridgeport, in Connecticut, in 1961. He also completed the executive management program at MIT in 1987.
 Terry R. Henline, 53, began his GM career as a junior designer in July 1961. He has been the chief designer of several studios: Chevrolet Exterior, Advanced Buick, Advanced Chevrolet and Pontiac Exterior. While with Pontiac from 1974 until being appointed director of the Advanced Concepts Center in California, in 1990, Henline was responsible for the design of several production and concept vehicles. He received a bachelor of fine arts degree in transportation design from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., in 1961; and a bachelor of science degree, also from Art Center, in 1975.
 Thomas V. Peters, 37, joined GM's Design Staff in 1982. He held design positions in several advanced studios before moving to the Chevrolet No. 3 Studio in 1984. Two years later he became the assistant chief designer of the Pontiac No. 2 Studio. He was appointed chief designer of the Advanced No. 4 Studio in 1988. In his new assignment, as director of GM's Advanced Concepts Center in California, Peters will oversee a staff of 32 designers, sculptors and engineers working on GM's advanced designs. He received his bachelor's degree in transportation design from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., in 1980.
 John R. Schinella, 53, joined GM's Design Staff as a transportation designer under an orientation and training program in September 1961. He has held design positions in several studios including Cadillac, Chevrolet and Pontiac. Schinella also has had assignments at GM Vauxhall in England, and GM Holden's in Melbourne, Australia. In 1987 he became the director of the Advanced Concepts Center in California, before being appointed executive designer for Saturn and Cadillac in 1990. Schinella has attended St. Anselm's College in Manchester, N.H.; New England School of Art in Boston; and the University of New Hampshire in Durham.
 William D. Scott, 51, began his GM career as a creative designer in July 1963. He has held design positions in the Oldsmobile, Buick, Advanced Interior, Chevrolet and Pontiac Studios. In 1972 he became the assistant chief designer of the Chevrolet Interior Studio and the chief designer two years later. In 1981 he was appointed chief designer of the Pontiac Interior Studio, the position he held until his recent appointment as executive designer of the Oldsmobile Studios. Scott received a bachelor's degree in industrial design transportation from the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Calif., in 1963.
