GLOBAL SPILL MANAGEMENT, INC., ANNOUNCES MEMBERSHIP IN MAJOR SPILL RESPONSE NETWORK

PARKER FORD, Pa., July 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Global Spill Management, Inc. (NASDAQ: GSMI), and its subsidiaries today announced that it has joined the National Response Corporation (NRC) Independent Contractor Network. As a member of this network, GSMI will be in line to respond to major marine vessel spills from Norfolk, Va., to New England.
The NRC was formed in response to the Oil Pollution Act of 1990 (OPA 90). Under the terms of the act, any vessel carrying petroleum products as cargo must have under contract adequate spill response equipment and manpower to handle any possible spill, including the loss of the entire vessel and its contents. Because no single company or government agency has sufficient resources to meet such a requirement, NRC has developed a network of U.S. Coast Guard-qualified contractors to meet the needs of shipowners worldwide. As a member of the NRC network, GSMI is included in the spill response plans of several hundred vessels.
Peter V. White, chairman and chief executive officer of GSMI, stated, "Membership in the NRC Network ensures GSMI a role in virtually every major spill in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic Coastal regions. We are pleased to be able to be a major partner in this network."
Global Spill Management, Inc., is a full-service environmental contracting and consulting company serving Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware and the Delaware River Basin. The company also manufactures and sells oil spill containment booms, adsorbent booms, skimmers and related equipment and supplies.
