GLOBAL CLIMATE COALITION TO HOLD MEDIA BRIEFINGS
 AT INTERGOVERNMENTAL NEGOTIATING COMMITTEE MEETINGS
The Global Climate Coalition will hold two media briefings during the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC) meetings at the United Nations, Feb. 18-28.
The meeting of the INC represents one of the final negotiating sessions on an international climate change treaty prior to the "Earth Summit" in Brazil to be held in June. The sessions in New York are important since they will help determine the framework of the document to be signed in Brazil.
The Global Climate Coalition is an organization of 46 major business organizations formed to coordinate the involvement of the U.S. business community in the scientific and policy debates concerning global climate change.
The first briefing features Dr. Dixy Lee Ray, author of "Trashing the Planet," and economist Dr. David Montgomery on Feb. 19. Montgomery recently completed a study on the economic impact of reducing emissions of carbon dioxide.
On Feb. 27, a panel of noted scientific and public policy authorities will present their views on the issue of global climate change. Included in this panel are: Dr. Robert Balling, Arizona State University; Dr. Patrick J. Michaels, University of Virginia; and Dr. S. Fred Singer, University of Virginia and The Science and Environmental Policy Project, Washington.
Both programs will be held at the U.N. Plaza Hotel, on 44th Street between 1st and 2nd avenues, New York, beginning at 1 p.m., and a light lunch will be served.
