GLENDALE WOMAN GETS PRESTIGIOUS MARSHALL SCHOLARSHIP.Byline: TRACY ZABORAC Community Columnist Lousine ``Lucy'' Boyadzhyan is one young woman with a bright future. The 22-year-old Glendale resident has been awarded a Marshall Scholarship for study in Great Britain, where she hopes to do medical research at Cambridge University. ``I just feel magnificently happy,'' she said. Hey, who can blame her for her exuberance? Marshall Scholarships - only 40 of which are given each year - are on par with the prestigious Rhodes scholarship, said Michael O'Daniel, spokesman for Occidental College, where Lucy is a senior chemistry major. Marshall Scholarships have been awarded each year since 1953 by the British Council. It funds two to three years of undergraduate or graduate study at any university in the United Kingdom. Lucy and her family came to the United States from Armenia in 1992. Her parents, Alla and Pogos Boyadzhyan of Glendale, are engineers. Lucy, who speaks five languages fluently, has conducted bio-organic chemistry research with a perfect grade-point average of 4.0 at Occidental. Her professional-level chemistry research has been presented at professional conferences. As if a Marshall Scholarship weren't enough, Lucy also has received a 1997 American Heart Association American Heart Association (AHA), n.pr a national voluntary health agency that has the goal of increasing public and medical awareness of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, and thereby reducing the number of associated deaths and disabilities. fellowship to conduct pediatric pediatric /pe·di·at·ric/ (pe?de-at´rik) pertaining to the health of children. pe·di·at·ric adj. It was through that experience that the young woman decided to become a physician and researcher. ``I knew then that caring for others was to become the focus of my entire life,'' she said. ``It gave me indescribable satisfaction.'' The Marshall Scholarship is named after former Secretary of State George C. Marshall, architect of the Marshall Plan, which helped rebuild European economies after World War II. Lately, the words ``mock'' and ``trial'' seem inseparable, but all cynicism aside, this is pretty impressive. Last week, the Louisville High School Louisville High School may refer to:
