GLENDALE TO GET GRANTS FOR POOR.

Byline: - Daily News

GLENDALE - Glendale city government will receive $6.6 million in federal assistance to help lower-income families.

The funding through the Department of Housing and Urban Development will be used to stimulate the local economy, produce affordable housing, help the homeless and assist families and individuals with HIV or AIDS. About $4 million of the money is in Community Development Block Grant funds, used to rehabilitate affordable housing and stimulate job growth and business opportunities for lower-income families and neighborhoods.

The city also received about $2.4 million in Home Investment Partnerships funding used exclusively to create affordable housing for low-income neighborhoods, and $139,000 in Emergency Shelter Grants.
