GLENDALE SET FOR UNITY FEST.

GLENDALE - The city is throwing its inaugural Unity Fest on Sunday, celebrating Glendale's cultural diversity with food, music and fun at Verdugo Park, 1621 Canada Blvd.

The free festival, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will feature cultural demonstrations and cuisine ranging from Danish pastries to spicy Thai noodles noo·dle 1

``Visitors will be invited to wander through international villages enjoying food, entertainment, arts and crafts arts and crafts, term for that general field of applied design in which hand fabrication is dominant. The Unity Fest is meant to show the positive effects of diversity, Rappoport said.

``We want this to be an enjoyable way to spend the day, where people learn things about other cultures and realize the similarities of the different cultures, but also appreciate the unique differences, and that they feel good about being a part of Glendale.''

Glendale, which has about 200,000 residents, is about 25 percent Armenian, and has large Latino, Korean and Filipino populations.
