Burke-Kelly could not be reached for comment Friday. Board vice president Armine Hacopian will serve as acting president, and the panel will have 60 days to fill the vacancy. Hacopian said the board will consider potential appointments at a special meeting.

No reasons were offered to the county education officials or the college for the resignation, but Hacopian said Burke-Kelly's new job as vice president of academic affairs at Los Angeles Mission College Los Angeles Mission College is a two-year community college located in Sylmar, California neighborhood of Los Angeles in the San Fernando Valley, United States.
