``Based on my understanding of the case, it seems to me like this indictment certainly is meant to be heavy-handed,'' said Roger Rosen, Schaffer's attorney. ``These are very serious charges. They carry some very severe penalties. But I'm wondering whether or not some of this indictment is a bit overkill overkill Vox populi An excess of anything .''

Murphy was booked on cocaine possession and child-endangering charges because loaded guns were accessible to her 12-year-old son, police said. She was freed on $100,000 bail, and has said she will not attend City Council meetings until after her Aug. 25 court date.
