SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  - The Association of California Water Agencies has elected Castaic Lake Castaic Lake is a lake on Castaic Creek formed by Castaic Dam, in northwestern Los Angeles County, California, near the town of Castaic.  participant since 1973. He is a past chairman of the ACWA's Region 8, which includes Los Angeles and Ventura counties, and is active in the ACWA's Executive Committee, Outreach Task Force and ACWA Joint Powers Insurance Authority.

Gladbach is also a member of the Water Education Foundation's board of directors and the Groundwater Resources Association.

A former manager with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is the largest municipal utility in the United States, serving 3.9 million residents in 2006. It was founded in 1902 to deliver water and electricity supplies to residents and businesses in Los Angeles. , he has served as vice president of the ACWA Utility Service Agency and commissioner of the Los Angeles Local Agency Formation Commission.

``As 2004 begins, water in California is entering an era of incredible challenges,'' Gladbach said. ``What we decide in the next several months will have a permanent impact on the reliability and quality of our water supply as well as the infrastructure system to deliver water to those in need.''
