GLAD TO GET THE BULLET; INTERVIEW : Peta Brady.A drugs bust on Ramsay Street Ramsay Street is a fictional residential street in the Australian soap opera Neighbours and is located in the fictional suburb of Erinsborough, Melbourne. Traditionally, the street begins on the opposite side of the main road, fictionally dubbed "Wentworth Avenue", but seems about as likely as a barbie in the middle of Albert Square Albert Square is the fictional location of the popular BBC soap opera EastEnders. It is ostensibly located in the equally fictional London borough of Walford in London's East End. .
But that's what happened in Neighbours on Friday. And, more shocking for stunned fans, it has left Cody's life hanging in the balance.
She was felled by a stray bullet as police swooped.
Today, the outlook is bleak as the young medical student is wheeled out of surgery into intensive care.
There's no happy ending in sight. Says an insider: "It's going to be all very sad - two-hanky job at least."
But Peta Brady, who plays Cody, is shedding no tears.
"Cody has been great fun to play," the 23-year-old actress says. "She's a bit like me in many respects. Pretty laid back about life. Throughout her four years on Ramsay Street Peta made it clear she was determined not to be just another frothy froth·y

"I like my work to speak for itself. That's why I don't model for magazines, or things like that.
"Mind you, if I looked like Kimberley Davies (who played Annalise), then maybe I would.
"Over the years, many people have said they've been glad to see a person like me on Neighbours - someone who isn't scarily beautiful.
"I think people have liked the down-to-earth qualities of Cody." Just like Cody, Peta reckons her feet are firmly on the ground.
"I can thank my family for that. To them, Neighbours has always been no big deal. It's just something they watch over dinner, and have a laugh at."
Her departure from the serial will be the latest in a line of Ramsay Street regulars.
Kimberley Davies, Dan Falzon and Mark Gottlieb have gone. Peta's screen lover, Sam (Richard Grieve) will also leave later this year.
No soap blonde babe, Cody has still had her share of admirers.

She even had a secret marriage (and divorce) from American Drew Grover. "Cody always seemed to need to have a man in tow," laughs Peta. "But that way I'm not like her."
Away from the cameras, Peta lives alone in Melbourne. There is no special man in her life.
"I'm perfectly happy the way things are," says Peta. "I've got lots of things to do and new projects to work on. I'm way too busy to worry about looking for Looking for

Apart from a forthcoming change of scene, there has been another bright side to Peta's dramatic demise as Cody.
She got together again with her best pal, Sue Jones, who plays her screen mum, Pam Willis.
This week, Cody's mum flies in from Darwin to keep a bedside vigil.
The two hadn't worked together since Sue left the show last year.
"It was just like old times," says Peta. "We didn't stop talking!"
