GL is censored.Last November, loyal GL reader Aly R. was looking forward to digging into the latest issue of GL in the library at Waggoner Road Middle School in Ohio. When she couldn't find it on the rack, she asked the school librarian (1) A person who works in the data library and keeps track of the tapes and disks that are stored and logged out for use. Also known as a "file librarian" or "media librarian." See data library. (2) See CA-Librarian. about it. "Mrs. Meese told me it was removed," reports Aly. "She said 'Bottled Emotions,' [D/J '07, about a girl living with an alcoholic parent] was 'too racy rac·y adj. rac·i·er, rac·i·est 1. Having a distinctive and characteristic quality or taste. 2. Strong and sharp in flavor or odor; piquant or pungent. 3. Risqué; ribald. 4. .'" Aly told her morn, who filed a complaint with the school board, staling Staling is a chemical and physical process in bread that reduces its palatability. Stale bread is dry and leathery. Staling is not, as is commonly believed, simply a drying out process. GL had been subjected to an act of censorship censorship, official prohibition or restriction of any type of expression believed to threaten the political, social, or moral order. It may be imposed by governmental authority, local or national, by a religious body, or occasionally by a powerful private group. . At press time, the board had not yet processed the case and Aly was still waiting for GL to return to her library. We will keep you posted. |
