FIRST SHOOT JITTERS jitters 'Butterflies' Psychology An episode of nervousness or anxiety that often precedes a public event; jitters is a type of performance anxiety which may affect actors in a stage production–stage fright or soloist musicians; it may respond to anxiolytics ! After very little makeup was applied to her pristine skin, Emily stepped in front of the camera, where a dozen people stared at her and told her to "smile" to "relax!" It was a little awkward for her. Even thought she's a lovely actress who did a smash job as the inventive Violet, the whole scene of having her picture snapped while everyone was totally judging her seemed as scary as it gets. GL West Coast Editor Jodi B. kept whispering stuff in her ear that no one could hear to make her giggle and loosen up. Her friend put on some music from Australia that sounded like two saxophones wrestling with a baby pig, but the seemed to make Emily more chill.

THE REAL EMILY SHINES THROUGH After the shoot and interview were over--and after she ate some raspberry-filled cookies--Emily was finally able to be herself. We learned that she likes coffee, SpongeBob SquarePants and thinks America is a lot like Australia--and she really likes it here! Even though the photo shoot was sort of scary for Emily at first, we think her pictures turned out super cute. To get the inside scoop on Emily, turn to page 46.
