Youth Orchestra Foundation of College of the Canyons College of the Canyons is one of the fastest-growing community colleges in the state. According to the National Junior College Research Association, College of the Canyons consistently ranks in the top 50 community colleges in the nation. . More than 20 California wineries will offer nearly 70 wines for tasting and sale. Two champagnes also will be featured, along with appetizers to cleanse the pallet between samples. The chairwoman of the event is Sue Bozman, COC's public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most chief and a bit of a wine connoisseur. Her interest in wine, she said, began with the annual fund-raiser. ``Over the years in being involved in the event I have learned about the wine industry in California,'' she said. ``I do enjoy wine and over the years we've started collecting. We ran out of shelves and one day I noticed under our stairway, we gutted a hole under there.'' And thus the Bozmans opened their own wine cellar. The benefit will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. at California Institute of the Arts California Institute of the Arts known as CalArts U.S. private institution of higher learning in Valencia. Patrons will be given souvenir wine glasses, then walk from tasting station to tasting station to sample the various wines. ``We have almost every kind of varietal you can imagine,'' Bozman said. ``You don't have to drink a lot of wine, you can just have a splash of each.'' The proceeds will help finance the 70-piece orchestra's summer trip to England as well as other concerts throughout the year. ``I would just love people to know how important musical arts are and what it does for these kids,'' Lawson said. ``Music of all arts touches not only the most sensitive and endearing emotions within, but it also involves an abundance of intellectual thought processes.''
