Computerized system that relates and displays data collected from a geographic entity in the form of a map. The ability of GIS to overlay existing data with new information and display it in colour on a computer screen is used primarily to
 (GIS) software; and Trimble, a leading innovator of global positional systems announced the 2004 ESRI and Trimble Mobile Government Grant Series. Totaling $170,000, the software, hardware and training grants have been awarded to 20 state, regional and local municipalities around the nation. The grant applications fell into the categories of homeland security and planning. The following recipients from parks and recreation include:

State of Texas Parks and Wildlife Department The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is a Texas state agency that oversees and protects wildlife and their habitats. In addition, the agency is responsible for managing the state's parks and historical areas.
