It was just one victory, the second of four the La Reina La Reina (Spanish: "The queen") is a commune of Chile located in Santiago Province, Santiago Metropolitan Region. It consistently ranks in the top five communes with the best quality of life in the Metropolitan Region.  High of Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  girls' volleyball team will need to win a Southern Section Division IV-AA championship.

But the Regents' three-game victory over Paraclete of Quartz Hill on Thursday had additional significance: La Reina had lost in the quarterfinals in six of the past seven years before the senior-dominated team - led by Jennifer Ryan and Ashlie Hain - broke the streak.

The Regents will play host to Laguna Beach Laguna Beach (ləg`nə), city (1990 pop. 23,170), Orange co., S Calif., on the Pacific coast; founded 1887, inc. 1927.  at 7 p.m. in today's semifinals.

``It was nice to get that one,'' coach Don Hyatt said. ``It's been written everywhere for the past few years, and it still pops up every once in a while.

``But I think a couple people said it best. . . . They told me, 'They just look different this year.' Even when we were down 7-0 in the first game against Paraclete, they just had a determined look about them.''

La Reina, seeded No. 3, faces an unknown team in Laguna Beach, which it has not seen in any tournaments this season. The Artists were ranked No. 1 in the division for much of the season but slipped to a No. 2 seed for the playoffs.

The winner of today's match will face either top-seeded Marymount or Flintridge-Sacred Heart in the section finals at Cypress College Cypress College is a community college located in Cypress, California. Opened on September 12 1966 , the southern California college offers a variety of general education (51 associates degrees), transfer courses (58 transfer majors), and 139 vocational programs leading to  on Friday or Saturday.

Hyatt didn't have anyone available to scout Laguna Beach, which was pushed to five games in victories over Valley Christian of Cerritos and Notre Dame Academy Notre Dame Academy may refer to:
  • Notre Dame Academy (Hingham, Massachusetts) in Hingham, Massachusetts
  • Notre Dame Academy (Worcester, Massachusetts) in Worcester, Massachusetts
  • Notre Dame Academy (Dayton, Ohio) in Dayton, Ohio, closed in 1927
last week. He added he wouldn't have made significant adjustments even with scouting reports.

``It's not so much who we play but how we play,'' Hyatt said. ``It's crazy to put in a whole new system just for one team, because then your players are likely to make mistakes because they aren't comfortable in that new system.

``We were a little shocked when (Louisville's) Megan O'Connell came out hitting left-handed (in the first round). It took us a game to adjust to that. You would just like to know what the other team tends to do and what type of offense they run.''

In Division III-AA, top-seeded Harvard-Westlake was dominating in victories over Gabrielino and San Jacinto San Jacinto, river, c.130 mi (210 km) long, rising in SE Texas as the West Fork and flowing S to Galveston Bay. Its chief tributary is Buffalo Bayou, and both the bayou and the lower river are used for the Houston ship channel.  last week but tougher competition lies ahead: The top four seeded teams have advanced to the semifinals.

The Wolverines will face fourth-seeded La Canada, the same team they defeated in last year's semifinals. In the other half of the bracket, second-seeded Bishop Montgomery, Harvard-Westlake's longtime playoff nemesis, hosts third-seeded Corona del Mar Del Mar is the name of several places in the United States of America:
  • Del Mar, California
  • Del Mar, Texas
  • Del Mar High School, located in San Jose, California
  • Del Mar Racetrack, located in Del Mar, California
