GIRLS SOCCER: CONNOLLY GETS SECOND HAT TRICK EL CAMINO REAL 4, TAFT 2.

Byline: Erik Boal Special to the Daily News

NEWHALL - Niki Connolly might be starting a new trend for athletes on championship teams by celebrating at Magic Mountain, instead of Disneyland.

A trip to the nearby amusement park amusement park, a commercially operated park offering various forms of entertainment, such as arcade games, carousels, roller coasters, and performers, as well as food, drink, and souvenirs.  was a fitting reward for the senior forward after she had Hart of Newhall's girls' soccer team experiencing deja vu See DjVu.  Thursday.

Connolly recorded her second hat trick hat trick

In last season's 2-1 win over the Indians, the UNLV-bound Connolly scored the tying goal in the 35th minute. On Thursday, she needed only five minutes to dash Hart's hopes of winning its own tournament for the first time since 1998.

Connolly received a pass from Cal-bound midfielder Katie Oakes and carried the ball to the top of the penalty box before slipping a shot past diving Hart goalkeeper Brittany Tippet tip·pet

Before the tournament, junior Ashleigh Thomas often admired Connolly's scoring prowess from the sidelines. During the Conquistadores' five-game run to the title, Thomas teamed with the Oakes sisters and Megan Quinn to control the midfield, setting up several of Connolly's team-leading 15 goals.

``I just stepped up and did what I had to do,'' said Thomas, who helped ECR compensate for the absence of starters Katie Etcher etch

Allison Carivau and Roxanne Phen scored second-half goals for Hart, which had outscored its opponents 53-3 during its winning streak. Freshman Michelle Somers helped the Conquistadores exceed that total in the 76th minute, scoring off a pass from Michelle Oakes.

Somers was one of four freshmen who stood out Thursday for the Conquistadores. Chelsea Forte, Sasha Scott and Jessica Stadheim joined senior captain Kimber Oborn in a strong defensive effort in front of goalkeeper Ashley Menin, who finished with eight saves.
