Royal (6-5, 4-3), expected to be Agoura's toughest challenge in league, didn't score until Agnes Konopka threw a ball past Agoura goalkeeper Sara Gralitzer with 2:30 left in the third period. Roxy Hacock scored the Highlanders' other goal.

``We had to cancel (Wednesday) practice because of the weather, thunder and lightning during practice time,'' Agoura coach Jason Rosenthal said. ``I think we came out with a slow start being out of the water a couple of days. Once we got our bearings going and took our time we were able to spread their defense more and take advantage of the open girls.''

Agoura has dominated opponents in recent games, including an 18-0 shutout against Westlake and a 23-2 win against Thousand Oaks Thousand Oaks, residential city (1990 pop. 104,352), Ventura co., S Calif., in a farm area; inc. 1964. ``We just stayed calm and didn't panic,'' said Carly Clark, who scored three goals against the Highlanders. ``We were patient and we were able to stop their shots. I think this game shows that we can stay calm under different situations and still play together as a team.''
