GIRLS' TENNIS: WEST VALLEY WELL REPRESENTED TAFT IS THIRD SEED IN CITY PLAYOFFS.

Taft High of Woodland Hills' girls' tennis team received the highest measure of respect of a well-represented West Valley League at the City Section playoff seeding meeting Wednesday at Hamilton High of West Los Angeles

The Toreadors, who won their first West Valley league title since 1992, received the third seed in the championship bracket. Taft is joined by league foes Granada Hills (fourth), Chatsworth (sixth), El Camino Real El Camino Real (Spanish for The Royal Road or The King's Highway) was the name of a series of pre-automobile highways linking the various New World colonies of Spain:

``I feel pretty good (about our draw),'' Taft coach Tom Wright said. ``But you never know. Sometimes things can happen.''

Sunset Six League champion Verdugo Hills of Tujunga drew the third seed in the Invitational bracket and will host 14th-seeded University of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  in first-round play.

Hamilton was awarded the top seed in the 16-team Invitational draw. Sunset Six League runner-up North Hollywood (seventh) will host 10th- seeded Banning of Wilmington.

Finals in both divisions are scheduled for Nov. 17 at Balboa Balboa, town (1990 pop. 2,751), Colón prov., in the former Panama Canal Zone, on the Gulf of Panama. The port for Panama City, Balboa was the administrative headquarters of the Panama Canal Zone. It was also the site of a U.S. navy base (closed 1999).  Sports Complex in Encino.
