GIRLS' TENNIS: TAFT ENDS GRANADA HILLS' CHAMPIONSHIP STREAK AT 11.

Byline: ERIK BOAL Special to the Daily News

Granada Hills High's girls' tennis team exacted revenge Wednesday for having one West Valley League streak snapped.

The Highlanders will have to wait until the City Section playoffs to have an opportunity to atone for their other league run being stopped by Taft of Woodland Hills.

Granada Hills defeated visiting Cleveland of Reseda 6-1 in both teams' regular-season finale, erasing the frustration of a 4-3 setback Oct. 9 that ended the Highlanders' league winning streak Noun 1. winning streak - a streak of wins

``I think they do believe (they're one of the best in the City),'' said Taft coach Tom Wright, whose team captured its first league crown since Marvin Jones Marvin Jones may refer to:

``When they got that 7-0 (win Oct.18) versus Granada Hills, I think that gave them some confidence.''

``Our doubles have gotten a lot better, and that's made a big difference,'' Wright said. ``Our Nos. 2 and 3 doubles have helped us a lot.''

Granada Hills (8-5, 7-3) and Taft entered the week tied for the league lead, but the Highlanders suffered a 4-3 loss Monday to Chatsworth and the Toreadors defeated Cleveland (5-8, 4-6) to hold the upper hand entering Wednesday's competition.

``My only goal is to be in the top 12 (in the City), and being second in the West Valley League will guarantee that,'' Granada Hills coach Simon Robertshaw said. ``If we play our `A' game, I think we can compete with anybody in the City.''

Granada Hills swept in doubles, including an 8-6, come-from-behind victory by Nicole Greenfield and Masha Saba to close out the match.
